About Us

AMI is an industry leader in aviation component manufacturing, with a focus on tubular components, thin wall welding and precision machining. AMI was founded in 1996 as a “sister company” to Aerospace Welding, Minneapolis, an FAA certified repair station, that has since become the world’s largest repair station for piston and turboprop aircraft exhausts and engine mounts. Our combined operations are in Eagan, MN, only 10 minutes from the MSP Int’l Airport, providing convenience for customers and a central location for attracting quality employees.

AMI was created to provide contract component manufacturing for Cirrus and other OEM aircraft companies. Many of these companies continue to be valued customers. AMI has expanded as a valued supplier to most of the leading Aerospace companies, providing welded tubular parts, sub-assemblies, and other components that support our growing aviation industry.

AMI is certified to work on a variety of aviation metals, including Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, Chromoly and Inconel. Many of these metals are thin-walled tubes that require highly experienced welders and craftsmen to build these products within the tight tolerances of the aviation industry.

We are a “midsize company”, which allows us to respond quickly while working closely with our customers. We are AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified. Our aerospace welding is Nadcap certified.

With AWI’s focus on exhausts and engine mounts, we are experts in the design and prototyping of new exhaust and engine/turbo mount systems within the industry.

AMI is an “engineering-centric” company. With a team of engineers, all of our products, procedures, and methods are grounded in our engineering focus. Our engineering staff are intimately involved in all phases of our operation and provide continual feedback and improvement on the development of new products for our customers and with continual improvement on longer term production runs. Our focus is constantly on lean practices and improvements.

AMI has invested in modern-day equipment to support our primary activities, which allows us to control quality, cost, and reduce lead times, making us a true partner to our customers.
